General Business Major - Undergraduate Degree, Fisher College of Business

Ohioans living near the four Ohio State University regional campuses - at Lima, Mansfield, Marion and Newark - can earn a Fisher College of Business undergraduate degree without heading to the Columbus campus for four years. The latest in distance learning technologies will bring the new general business major to regional campus students via computer and modem, coupled with traditional classroom instruction. The new major began in September 2001. The courses and delivery method have been tailored to meet the needs of nontraditional students who already hold positions in Ohio's small and mid-size firms as well as for those who aspire to careers in business. The new degree represents a recent decision by The Ohio State University's Council on Academic Affairs (CAA). more

SAGE (Series in Applied Gerontology Education): Gerontology Certificate of Completion

This three-course (nine credit hour) distance learning program of The Ohio State University provides continuing education and training in the field of aging. SAGE is appropriate for professionals working in the field of aging who need additional discipline-specific training, individuals who provide services for older adults, and those wanting to pursue a career serving older adults who do not wish to or cannot return to graduate school. Throughout the series of internet-based courses, special attention will be devoted to issues of social, cultural, and ethnic diversity. more

Nursing Online Programs and Degrees

Family Nurse Practitioner Masters Degree

The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program prepares graduates for advanced practice nursing in a variety of clinical settings ranging from private practices, clinics, hospitals and businesses to managed care organizations and governmental agencies. Graduates of the program will be eligible for certification as family nurse practitioners in primary care. Applicants for the web-based, online program will be admitted based on the evaluation criteria listed for our regular graduate program. more

Masters Degree Online Options

The core nursing courses for all Masters specialties in advanced practice nursing are available online. Web-based instruction is available for one-half to three-quarters of the required classes, depending on specialty. more

Pharmacology in Advanced Practice Nursing CE

This web-based continuing education course covers topics such as pharmacologic principles and autonomic, cardiovascular, renal, CNS, endocrine, and chemotherapeutic drugs. This is an advanced course requiring previous knowledge of pharmacology obtained in an undergraduate program and from clinical practice. The course meets the educational requirements for prescriptive authority in Ohio. more

Pharmacy Doctorate

The mission of the Nontraditional Doctor of Pharmacy program at the Ohio State University College of Pharmacy is to provide the opportunity for practicing pharmacists at the baccalaureate level to enhance their ability to provide high quality pharmaceutical care and obtain the PharmD degree. In 2006 this program enrolled its last class, which will continue online coursework through 2009.

Welding Engineering Program

The Master of Science in Welding Engineering (MSWE), the only ABET accredited Welding Engineering program in North America, prepares students by offering specialized distance learning courses in lasers, robotics, fusion welding, solid state welding, metallurgy, computer modeling and nondestructive evaluation. more
